Every year, horses purchased through an official Old West Horse Sale are eligible to return and compete in the 4 & Under Division of the Old West Rope Horse Futurity in Heber City, UT for a shot at the $1,000,000 Bonus.

Step 1: Buy a Horse from the Sale
Purchase a horse through an official Old West Horse Sale to become eligible for graduate incentives and bonus opportunities.
Once purchased through the sale, that horse becomes an official Old West Sale Graduate.
Step 2: Win the Main Pot in the 4 & Under Pre-Futurity Division
To earn the $1,000,000 Road to the Million Bonus in 2026, an eligible Sale Graduate must:
1. Compete in the 4 & Under Pre-Futurity Division at the official Old West Rope Horse Futurity in Heber City, UT.
2. Win 1st Place in the Pre-Futurity Main Pot in one of the following disciplines:
Heading • Heeling • Breakaway
Important: Each discipline follows official Old West Futurity rules and verification.
Bonus Distribution
The Road to the Million Bonus is designed to reflect participation across each discipline and is distributed using a pro-rata method based on total entries.
If an eligible Sale Graduate wins the Heading or Heeling Main Pot and is the sole qualifying champion, that horse will receive the full Road to the Million Bonus.
Because Breakaway typically represents a significantly smaller percentage of total event entries, an eligible Breakaway champion's bonus payout will be calculated on a pro-rata basis using the total number of Breakaway entries relative to the total qualifying entries at the event.
If more than one eligible Sale Graduate wins 1st Place in the Pre-Futurity Main Pot, the $1,000,000 bonus pool will be divided among qualifying champions using the same pro-rata formula. Each qualifying division's share of the bonus will be determined by its total number of entries, with divisions carrying larger entry counts receiving a proportionately larger share of the bonus pool.
This structure ensures bonus payouts fairly reflect participation levels across all divisions while preserving the integrity of the Road to the Million Bonus program.

To be eligible for Road to the Million Bonus opportunities:
- Horse must be purchased through an official Old West Horse Sale.
- Horse must be recognized as an official Old West Sale Graduate.
- Horse must compete in the 4 & Under Pre-Futurity Division at the Old West Rope Horse Futurity in Heber City, Utah.
- Horse must win 1st Place in the Pre-Futurity Main Pot in Heading, Heeling, or Breakaway.
Eligibility applies to the horse, not the rider.
All bonus payouts are subject to official Old West Futurity rules, results, verification, and final approval.
You Can Still Win Big Without Winning First
Even if your Sale Graduate does not win 1st Place in the Pre-Futurity Main Pot, you may still earn significant payouts through the Guaranteed Sale Graduate Side Pot, which is paid separately from the Main Pot.
For example: If your horse places 3rd overall, but is the highest-placing Sale Graduate, you may win 1st place in the Graduate Side Pot payout for that discipline.
